THE VIRGINIA PROJECT FOUNDATION mission

The mission of The Virginia Project Foundation is to connect Virginia’s history to Virginia’s classrooms. Our schools teach and test knowledge of Virginia history, albeit to a limited extent. Television documentaries, the internet and computer technology have effectively turned our living rooms, museums and libraries into history classrooms for both adults and children. Virginia tourism remains a staple in educating a national audience about Virginia. The Foundation views its audience as the public — a classroom in the broadest sense of the term.
